A review of some of the projects that were successfully carried out during 2016.
This was a small garden where the soil had become very sandy and fine. Lots of manure and compost was dug in and a busy and colourful array of plants applied.
A neglected front garden and hedge brought back to its landscaped former glory.
Storms and rot had taken its toll on an old fence. This was replaced with robust fully-framed fence panels.
We assembled a few sheds this year: from small sheds to summer houses.
Under the weight of a Clemetis, an old trellis was collapsing and the posts, stood in met-post holders, were wobbling. A more robust trellis was assembled and posts concreted into the ground for better stability. The Clemetis can now re-grow along the trellis and be under more control.
One of our first jobs of 2016; we reduced the height of a front hedge so that the customer has now got some light back in their front room
This patio had become dirty and the pointing had loosened and broken away. We jet-washed the patio, repaired the pointing and then sprayed the area with a weather-proofing which will stop the patio getting dirty as quickly. The block paving was also treated and re-sanded to help prevent weeds.
A customer had been burgled and the police recommended a trellis across the back wall of the garden, as an obstacle to any potential future burglar, which we added.
We have carried out a lot of fence repairs during 2016: replaced fence panels, arris rails, fence posts, added arris rail reinforcements and installed concrete spurs to secure damaged posts.
Here, a small decorative dry-stone wall was built to provide interest to a new flower bed. This was for an area of the garden where the grass didn't grow very well, due to being at the foot of large hedges and trees and the ground being very compacted.
The original shingle on this drive had become very depleted due to lack of care over a few years. We spread four tons of pebbles to freshen the drive, without making it too deep.
We tidied up an overgrown garden and we also re-established the rear flower bed by digging in compost and manure. An edge was added to retain the extra soil and re-cycled bricks, from the customer, were used to keep the costs down.
Where a garden was being re-arranged, a small corner was reserved for the family trampoline. A small temporary lanscape was installed, which can be easily removed once the trampoline has is no longer requried.
A remit that we often have is to make a garden as low maintenace as possible, while also adding some attractive features. Below are some examples where we have added a touch of landscaping to keep the area tidy and nice looking.
